General commands

The menu that appears when pressing the main button of the application is divided into two panels: a first one containing the common commands typical of any application; a second one simply collecting the recently opened projects, with a button for managing the program options.

New

The button named New allows a new Easy HVSR project to be created. If an unsaved project is already open, confirmation is requested to save the data before creating a new project.

Open

The button named Open allows an Easy HVSR project previously saved on the file system of the computer in use to be opened. If an unsaved project is already open, confirmation is requested to save the data before opening another project.

Save

The button named Save, enabled only if changes have been made to the open project and not yet saved, allows the content of the currently open project to be saved on the file system of the computer in use, in the file associated with the project. If the open project was created from one of the buttons named New, a window is opened asking to choose a path and a name for the new project.

Save as

The button named Save as opens a dialog window to save the currently open project anywhere on the file system of the computer in use, with a new name.

Help

The button named Help opens this window of the HVSR manual.

Recent documents

This panel lists the file names of the recently opened Easy HVSR projects. Clicking at any point of the row corresponding to one of these file names automatically opens it within Easy HVSR. At the end of each row of the list there is a further button which prevents the corresponding file name from disappearing from the list of recent files as the list scrolls when other files are opened.

Options

The button named Options opens a window where some management and display options of the application can be set.

In the "General" section the following options can be set:

  • The maximum number of recent files to be listed in the relevant list;
  • The maximum number of operations that can be undone during the Easy HVSR analysis process (N.B.: If this number is excessively high, memory consumption is considerable. Unless there are particular needs, it is advisable not to exceed the value of 10)

In the "Graphics" section the colours used in the charts can be set. For each chart present in the application, two colours are shown in the two columns named "Current" and "New": the first shows the colour currently set in that chart; the second the new colour that will be used if, when accepting the changes, the OK button is pressed to confirm them.

Clicking on one of the colours in the "New" column opens a dialog window in which the new colour to be assigned can be chosen. At the same time, for graphical convenience, below the dialog window the text indicating which chart's colour is currently being modified is highlighted in red.

The last two graphical options concern the colour gradations to be used in the two colour maps present in Easy HVSR, to be chosen among the options available in the relevant lists.

Pressing the button named OK accepts the changes made to the configuration, while pressing the one named Cancel discards them.

N.B.: When hovering over one of the active components of the window, a more detailed description of the parameter below the mouse pointer position is shown in the upper part of the window itself.

Within the Ribbon Bar tab named Home there are general utility commands, grouped into further subcategories (groups).

File group

Edit group

The buttons named Cut, Copy and Paste perform the typical operations associated with them during data input.

Undo

Allows the last accepted changes in the project to be undone.

Redo

Allows the last undone changes to be restored.

N.B.: Undo and Redo only take effect between consecutive acceptances of changes, that is, Undo can bring the project back to the state immediately preceding the last press of the "Apply" button, or the acceptance of changes through the dialog window that appears when moving from one analysis tab to another.

Firm General Data group

This group contains only the button named Firm General Data, which opens a window used to configure the general data of the firm that will be included in all the reports generated by Easy HVSR, regardless of the open project, until they are next modified. If no data are entered, those of the program licence will be used.

Execution group

This group contains a single button named Stop. This button is active only during the actual computation stages, and allows that stage to be interrupted if it is considered excessively long, or if you believe you have entered incorrect data and want to change it before proceeding further.

Within the Ribbon Bar tab named Export there are all the commands useful for exporting, grouped by type of export (groups)

Numerical group

Traces

With the button named Traces it is possible to export numerically the input traces in text format (TXT) and for Excel (CSV), together with their general data.

Average spectra

With the button named Average spectra it is possible to export numerically the average Fourier spectra of the traces in the three directions, together with their general and statistical data, in text format (TXT) and for Excel (CSV).

H/V

With the button named H/V it is possible to export numerically the H/V spectral ratio together with its general and statistical data, in text format (TXT) and for Excel (CSV).

Graphical group

Each button in this group is associated with the export of the image of one of the charts present in Easy HVSR, with the sole exception of the stratigraphy drawing. The available formats are the most commonly used ones.

Print group

Similarly to the group named "Graphical", each button is associated with the printing process of the chart associated with it, as the name of the button itself suggests. At each print request, the printer to which the printing process is to be directed is initially requested.

N.B.: The export of some charts or data is only possible once the analysis process reaches the point required to produce the content of the export. In the case of charts, these become available when they are visible on screen. Furthermore, the export and printing process of the charts can also be started through the context menu that appears when right-clicking on one of them.

Report group

This group contains only the button named Report, which allows the generation of a report of the whole analysis process and of its results, complete with charts and checks. The traces and their spectra are not reported in full in the report, since they would be of little use for the purposes of the report and would take up a considerable number of pages.

Within the Ribbon Bar Tab named Help there are buttons useful for managing the application and the relationship with GeoStru. These buttons launch the default Browser of the system on which the application is run, and point to web addresses useful for the Easy HVSR user. The only exceptions are the following:

Registration

Launches a window that allows the product to be registered, in order to possibly unlock Easy HVSR from DEMO mode following the purchase of the application itself.

Help

Launches this guide associated with Easy HVSR.

About

Launches a window containing information about Easy HVSR and the product registration data.
