A practical step-by-step guide to using Easy Refract, from the fundamentals of seismic refraction through to the subsoil section and the final report.

If you have no experience with this type of survey, start from the first chapter: it explains the physical principle on which everything else is based and makes the choices the software will ask you to make understandable.

Before you start

Understanding seismic refraction — principle of the method, traveltime curves, layers and refractors, field acquisition layout and limitations you need to know.

The workflow

  1. Initial data — survey identification and study area
  2. How to import the data — seismograms and spread geometry
  3. Shot points, data filtering and first arrivals — sources, filters and picking
